Savenko A.V., Brekhovskikh V.F., Pokrovsky O.S. Macro- and microelement composition of macrophytes of the freshwater part of the Volga River mouth area // Arid ecosystems. 2020. V. 26. № 3 (84). P. 93-102. | PDF
Concentrations of macro components (Na, K, Mg, Ca, P) and trace elements (Rb, Cs, Be, Sr, Ba, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Ag, Sn, Sb, Al, Ga, rare-earth elements, Ti, Zr, Hf, Th, U, Nb, Ta, B, V, Cr, Ge, As, Mo, W) in 12 species of macrophytes, collected in the freshwater part of the Volga River mouth area, were determined. Close correlation relationships of species-mean contents of: a) the majority of studied trace elements, confirming the group concentrating phenomenon observed earlier for heavy metals and chromium; b) magnesium, calcium, and trace elements capable of their isomorphic replacement; c) typically nutrients (potassium and phosphorus) were established. A regular increase in the concentrations of trace elements and, to a lesser extent, magnesium and calcium in the number “helophytes ® large-leaved hydrophytes ® variegate-leaved hydrophytes ® small-leaved, including fully submerged hydrophytes”, which corresponds to an increase in the effective surface area of plants in the aquatic environment, was revealed.
Key words: macrophytes, trace elements, macro components, group concentrating, interspecies differences, the Volga River mouth area.
