Only the articles of small size (up to 12 A4 pages) are accepted. The priority is given to those articles which discuss geography, ecology, geological ecology, nature preservation and protection of ecosystems’ components.

Reasons of creating the Journal

Today the worldwide science and politics communities show the deep interest towards natural ecosystems and their functions, vital for humanity support, such as climatic and hydrological regime’s optimization, maintenance of soil fertility and maximal possible biodiversity, as well as high productivity and other functions. At the same time the main part of nowadays researches is confined only on the subject of individual and specific problems of population, species and community ecology.

The aim of “Arid Ecosystems” is to present the articles about different types of geography and ecology, so they can contribute to change the existing principles of interactions between human and nature in arid territories around the world. The creation of this Journal, which focuses the science community on the complex researches of ecosystem organization of the life on Earth, should be of great significance not only for successful and complex development of geography and ecology, but also for solving the actual practical problems of nature protection and stable management of arid territories.

Journal’s Aim

Its aim is to create a place to discuss the principal problems of ecological aftermath of humanity and nature interactions in arid environmental conditions; to make decisions, based on the synthesis of theoretical conceptions, ecology achievements, related disciplines, historical approach, nature protection experience and actual rational environmental management.

Journal’s Goals

Its goal is to help with:

1) Distribution of the modern and international ideas, approaches and methods of researches of ecology, ecosystems and their components dynamics by publishing surveys, providing discussions and informing on the newest methods and the results of their usage;

2) Development of complex assessment of the actual condition of arid worldwide territories, courses and rates of ecosystems, their complexes and their components evolution, by synthesizing acknowledges of such fields as Earth sciences, biology, agriculture, forestry, traditional and actual experience of environmental management and nature protection in arid territories;

3) Utilization of the modern methods of research of ecology, arid ecosystems and their components dynamics on Earth to preserve and/or recover the natural features of the Specially Protected Natural Reservations and to organize environmental management, which is configured for the maximal possible implementation of the ecosystem functions of the biosphere;

4) Introduction of the modern conceptions of the complex approach of researches of arid ecosystems under the fast anthropogenic disturbances, into secondary and higher education to form efficient and responsible attitude of the youth towards the problems of preservation and recovery of the biosphere natural features, as it is the main term of humanity’s stable existence.

The editorial is formed by the experts on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, population, species and community ecology of plants and animals, botany, zoology, soil science, mycology, hydrobiology, biogeography, phytocenology, landscape ecology, mathematical modeling, environmental management and nature protection.

Many editorial members have been involved into complex researches of the well-conserved and anthropogenically transformed ecosystems of different Russian arid regions and in the foreign countries.
